Hail Damaged Tile Roof Replacement in Schaumburg

The roofing professionals at SMART Roofing, Inc. recently replaced the hail-damaged tile roof of this Schaumburg home with Ludowici Brittany clay shingle roof tiles. Ludowici Roof Tiles have a long-trusted reputation for exceptionally beautiful architectural terra cotta that lasts for centuries. The Brittany shingle roof tile is a dramatic textured terra cotta tile in irregular lengths with the feel of aged stone. Roof Damage – Severe Storms & Hail

Residents of the Chicago suburbs are all too familiar with the type of damage that hail storms can cause, but when it comes to roof hail damage, you may need to call a professional.

Many homeowners make the mistake of only looking for damage in the form of missing shingles. However, there could be damage underneath the shingles which can cause leaks to occur well after the storm has passed. If you are unsure of whether your roof or gutters have been damaged, look around at your landscaping to see if hail has blistered any nearby trees or shrubs. When hail is strong enough to do damage to these elements, chances are, you also have some sort of roof hail damage.

Golf ball-sized hail and 60-mph winds were recorded in the severe storm blast. Identifying whether your roof, siding or windows have sustained damage from a hail storm may be difficult. The experts at SMART Roofing, Inc. can help! Also, many insurance companies will consider paying for storm or hail damage. SMART Roofing, Inc. has helped thousands of customers in the Chicago suburbs navigate the insurance roof claim process. Call us at 847.797.0404 or email contactus@smartroofers.com today!

Strong winds, heavy rainfall and hail dime to golf ball size hail were reported around the following Chicago suburbs:

Roselle 1.75″

Crystal Lake 1.75″

Palatine 1.5″

Bartlett 1.5″

Algonquin 1.5″

Barrington 1.25″

Arlington Heights 1.0″

Evanston 1.0″

St. Charles 1.0″

Bloomingdale 1.0″

In Rosemont, high winds and hail damage brought down a sports dome. The strong storm cell downed power lines and left at least one person injured in north suburban Evanston as well as Rogers Park and Montrose Harbor on the North Side of Chicago. (Fox News)

Storm and Hail Damage – Southwest Chicago – Minooka

Southwest Chicago  and Minooka Large Hail and Very Heavy Rainfall – Fast Facts:

During the late afternoon and early evening, multiple storms produced large hail and very heavy rainfall along the I-80 corridor, including across the far southern and southwestern Chicago metro area.

The largest hail reported was over 4″ in diameter, measured at 4.75″, two miles north-northwest of Minooka around 7:20 pm. There were many reports of 2.5″ diameter hail and larger across Minooka from Emergency Management, law enforcement, and the public. There were multiple reports of vehicle damage from this area.

The 4.75″ diameter hail observed two miles north-northwest of Minooka was the largest documented hail stone in Illinois since at least 1961, and according to the Illinois State Climatologist, may be the largest documented hail stone on record in the state.

Do you have storm or hail damage?

A roof may be substantially damaged by hail, even though the actual shingles appear to still be in place after the storm.  Although the storms occurred last week, the damage may not cause leaking until well after the storm.  This is the time that it’s crucial to have a qualified roofing expert examine your roof and fully evaluate the storm and hail damage to your property and assist you in filing an insurance claim. Even if damage to your roof may not seem severe at the moment, it may eventually lead to additional leaks and problems down the road. Chicago Severe Weather – Storm Damage – Roof, Siding, Windows

Hail and rain started blanketing parts of Chicago Wednesday evening as a wave of severe storms that could produce hail and damaging winds, possibly some tornadoes, moved through much of the Midwest, Wednesday evening through Thursday.

As of 11 p.m., pea-to-dime-sized hail began falling in parts of the North Side as a couple of thunderstorm cells developed over the city, according to the National Weather Service.

The tornadoes came at the end of a long day of heavy weather. An earlier storm brought winds of 35 mph and heavy rainfall and hail to Chicago and Chicago suburbs.

The weather service issued a flood warning for the Des Plaines River at Riverside from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening. Minor flooding is forecast for Friday evening and expected to subside by Saturday afternoon, according to the warning.

Residents of the Chicago suburbs are all too familiar with the type of damage that hail storms can cause, but when it comes to the roof hail damage, you may need to call a professional.

Many homeowners make the mistake of only looking for damage in the form of missing shingles. However, there could be damage underneath the shingles which can cause leaks to occur well after the storm has passed. Sugar Grove, Naperville, Aurora & Warrenville Hail

To the residents of Sugar Grove, Naperville, Aurora, Warrenville – don’t fall for this common roof hail damage myth!

”Since it doesn’t look like I’ve lost any roof shingles, I must not have any hail damage.”

Missing shingles are usually related to wind damage claims (hurricanes, tropical storms, etc.), and are NOT an absolute indicator of hail-related roof damage. A roof may be substantially damaged by hail, even though the actual shingles appear to still be in place after the storm. Furthermore, the damage may not cause leaking until well after the storm. Therefore, it is crucial to have a qualified roofing expert examine your roof after a storm to fully evaluate the damage to your property and assist you in filing an insurance claim. Even if damage to your roof may not seem severe at the moment, if left un-repaired, it may eventually lead to additional leaks and problems down the road – which could end up costing substantially more to repair. Better to get the roof inspected, and have the repairs made immediately so that additional damage can be avoided. Contact your local roof hail damage experts at SMART Roofing, Inc. for a free inspection 847.797.0404.

BEWARE OF STORM CHASERS!

Storm chasers are companies that follow severe weather from area to area, completing home repairs (generally roofs and siding) that are caused by damage by hail and wind. Here in Chicago, we are prone to hailstorms, and storm chasers quickly follow any such event. BEFORE YOU SIGN ANYTHING, please research the company you are considering for your repair.

With over 20 years’ experience and a reputation you can trust, SMART ROOFING will identify whether your roof, siding, windows or gutters have sustained damage from the storm.

Here’s How To Spot A Storm Chaser:

Storm Chasers will generally:
• Come your door and try to get you to sign something immediately
• Use high pressure sales tactics
• Offer you a “Free Roof” or “Free Siding” or offer a way around paying a deductible (this is insurance fraud!)
• Have out-of-state license plates or driver’s license (and YES! you can & should ask to see a driver’s license to verify identity)
• Are unable to produce recent, local references
• Are unable to produce local supplier references
• Have no proof of manufacturer certifications (large manufacturers offer their own certifications to established legitimate contractors. Look for GAF-Elk Master Elite Contractors, GAF-Elk Certified Contractors, IKO Shield-Pro Plus, CertainTeed 5-Star Contractors)
• Are unable to produce a roofing license and certificate of insurance with the same identification information. A legitimate local company should show you an IL Roofing License and a Certificate of Liability/Workers Compensation both issued in the same name. If the names don’t match, you may not be protected.

SMART Roofing, Inc. is a GAF-Master Elite Contractor and is fully licensed and insured:

IL License #104-009220.

SMART Roofing, Inc. has also helped thousands of customers throughout the suburbs navigate the insurance roof claim process.  To schedule an evaluation of your home, call SMART Roofing at 847.797.0404 or email contactus@smartroofers.com.
